The World Health Organisation today presented maternal and neonatal health equipment to the Enga Provincial Health Authority (EPHA).
The presentation was witnessed by Dr Edward Waramin, representing the National Department of Health, Enga Provincial Administrator, Dr Samson Amean and Governor Chief Sir Peter Ipatas.
Dr Waramin, on behalf of Health Minister, Jelta Wong and Health Department Secretary, Dr Pasion Dakulala, thanked the World Health Organisation for their continued support.
“We would like to convey our deepest respect and word of thanks to the Enga Provincial Government who is always on the frontline to empower its Provincial Health Authority team to achieve its objectives,” Dr Waramin said.
Meantime, the Enga provincial COVID-19 awareness team has embarked on a large scale campaign on the virus which continues at Laiagam today.
Governor of Enga, Sir Peter Ipatas was among school children, teachers and the public who gathered at Laiagam Primary School for the event.
Team leader of the Provincial COVID-19 Awareness committee, Gerald Kepa, told the gathering that no country has found a cure for the virus, and emphasised the need for all Engans to look after themselves to prevent the sickness from spreading.
Mr Kepa urged everyone to practice the following measures to minimize the spread of the disease: wash your hands often with soap and water ; cough into your elbow, not into your hands; don’t touch your face; keep a safe distance from others and simply stay at home and above all to remain vigilan
