West New Britain reports five new COVID-19 cases

Five new Coronavirus disease (Covid 19) cases have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours.

All five cases, two male and three female ages ranging from 28 to 55 were reported in West New Britain.

Controller of the National Pandemic Response, David Manning said, four of the five cases were reported in Talasea district whilst one case was reported in Gloucester.

The lone case in Gloucester was a nursing officer who came into contact with a previous positive case.

Among the four who were tested positive in Talasea was an environmental health officer who came into contact with a previous case.

Meanwhile, the country’s total number of cases as of Wednesday December 9 stands at 689.

A total of 32,221 have been tested for Coronavirus. 601 people have recovered whilst 27 samples are pending at the laboratory. Eighty-one active cases are in isolation.

16 provinces including AROB have reported cases. The distribution of the cases is as follows:

Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 67,210,778, including 494,744 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

The death toll is 1,540,777; of which 7,707 were reported in the last 24 hours.
