Papua New Guinea recorded 205 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Wednesday April 7, increasing the total number of cases to 7,839.
The country’s total known COVID-19 deaths is 68.
Commissioner of Police and Controller of the National Pandemic, David Manning, said of the total cases, Western Province recorded the highest with 119 new cases; National Capital District, 27; Chimbu, 23; East New Britain, 23; Morobe, 16 ; East Sepik 9 cases; Central, 7; Enga, 7; West New Britain 7;West Sepik, 5; Autonomous Region of Bougainville, 4; Jiwaka, 4; Eastern Highlands, 2; Western Highlands, 1; Hela, 1; and Milne Bay, 1 .
From the 27 new cases reported in NCD, there were 19 males, seven females and one not stated, with ages between 23 68 years. Nineteen cases showed symptoms of COVID-19 whilst eight were asymptomatic at the time of testing.
