Seven provinces in the country have recorded new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Friday 13 August, increasing the total number of cases in PNG to 17,827.
The 15 cases were detected in Simbu with six; Western (3); West Sepik (2), East New Britain (1); West New Britain (1); Western Highlands (1); and Madang (1).
There were 11 males and four females in the recent count with ages range between 17 to 60 years old.
Ten out of the 15 cases were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stand at 17,827 with 192 known deaths, while total cumulative recoveries is 17,538, and to date, 150,544 people have tested for COVID-19.
All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 is 206,189,090 including 718,392 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 4,347,272 including 10,430 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
