PNG reports 91 new COVID-19 cases, 22 deaths

Papua New Guinea reported 91 new cases of Coronavirus and 22 deaths in the last 24 hours ending Monday 6 December 2021, increasing the total confirmed cases to 35,662 and  death toll to 573.

The latest update from the  National Control Centre  (NCC) has  confirmed , the new cases were reported in New Ireland (60), National Capital District (14), East New Britain (14) and Southern Highlands (three).

The COVID-19 – related deaths were recorded in Morobe (20) and Manus (two), while the Delta cases stand at 398.

In the same period, a total of 34, 645 persons have recovered from the virus.

From the  latest NCC  statistics, the cumulative figures for the 22 provinces are as follows:

  • NCD – 9262 cases, 9097 recoveries, 102 deaths, 162 delta cases;
  • Western  – 3610 cases, 3574 recoveries, 33 deaths, 33 delta cases;
  • Western Highlands – 2713 cases, 2622 recoveries, 79 deaths, three delta cases;
  • Morobe – 2485 cases, 2437 recoveries, 47 deaths, 65 delta cases;
  • East New Britain – 2155 cases, 2013 recoveries, 26 deaths, one delta case;
  • Eastern Highlands  – 2148 cases, 90 deaths, 2058 recoveries, 22 delta cases;
  • Madang – 1262 cases, 1225 recoveries, 29 deaths, four delta cases;
  • West New Britain  – 1203 cases, 1197 recoveries, six deaths;
  • Milne Bay – 1201 cases, 1183 recoveries, five deaths, one delta case;
  • Chimbu – 1058 cases, 1047 recoveries, 11 deaths, 14 delta cases;
  • Enga – 1042 cases, 1031 recoveries, eight deaths, four delta cases;
  • Southern Highlands  – 1030 cases, 950 recoveries, 53 deaths,
  • Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 850 cases, 770 recoveries, eight deaths;
  • Central – 810 cases, 786 recoveries, two deaths, four delta cases;
  • New Ireland – 786 cases, 738 recoveries, nine deaths, one delta case;
  • West Sepik  -762 cases, 749 recoveries, 13 deaths, 56 delta cases;
  • Hela – 743 cases, 723 recoveries, six deaths, 13 delta cases;
  • East Sepik – 672 cases, 665 recoveries, eight deaths;
  • Manus – 618 cases, 610 recoveries, 10 deaths, two delta cases;
  • Gulf – 469 cases, 427 recoveries;
  • Jiwaka  – 421 cases, 384 recoveries, 29 deaths, two delta cases;
  • Northern – 362 cases, 362 recoveries.

In the same reporting period, a total of 263, 470  tests have also  been conducted.

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered to date is 371,865, while 280,227 persons have at least received one dose with , 212,845 people being fully vaccinated.
