PNG reports 52 new COVID-19 cases

Papua New Guinea recorded 52 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday 11 November  2022,  increasing the total number of confirmed cases to 45,773, including 668 deaths and 44,816 recovered cases.

In its  recent  COVID-19 surveillance updates, the National Control Centre confirmed the new cases were reported in  Enga (21), Eastern Highlands (13), Western Highlands (eight), Jiwaka (six), National Capital District (three) and Central (one)

In the meantime,  a summary of the provincial    Covid-19 statistics is as follows.

– NCD – 12,847 cases, 12,710 recoveries, 102 deaths;

– Western – 3770 cases, 3734 recoveries, 33 deaths;

– Western Highlands – 3252 cases, 3106 recoveries, 92 deaths;

– Eastern Highlands – 2803 cases, 2641 recoveries, 121 deaths;

– Morobe – 2611 cases,2557 recoveries, 53 deaths;

– East New Britain – 2407 cases, 2374 recoveries, 31 deaths;

– Madang – 1793 cases, 1760 recoveries, 33 deaths;

–  Milne Bay – 1601 cases, 1594 recoveries, five deaths;

– Enga – 1513 cases, 1445  recoveries, six deaths;

– Southern Highlands – 1354cases, 1300 recoveries, 53 deaths;

– Central – 1379 cases, 1351 recoveries, two deaths;

– West New Britain – 1252 cases, 1238 recoveries, seven deaths;

– New Ireland – 1224 cases, 1206 recoveries, 13 deaths;

– Chimbu – 1206 cases, 1178 recoveries, 14 deaths;

–  Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 1202 cases, 1183 recoveries, 19 deaths;

– Hela – 1146 cases, 1125 recoveries, 14 deaths;

– Manus – 911 cases, 893 recoveries, 11 deaths;

– West Sepik – 883 cases, 870 recoveries, 13 deaths;

– East Sepik – 768 cases, 751 recoveries, eight deaths;

– Northern – 659 cases, 650 recoveries, seven deaths;

– Gulf – 658 cases, 653 recoveries; 0 deaths

– Jiwaka – 534 cases, 497 recoveries, 31 deaths.

 As of 6 November  2022, a total of 497,088  doses of vaccines  were administered in country.

Types of vaccines  available and distributed in country, include AstraZeneca (269,476); Johnson & Johnson (206,593) and Sinopharm (21019).

In the meantime, the World Health Organisation has also reported that globally, as of 11 November 2022,  there have been 630,832,131  confirmed COVID-19 cases including 6,584,104 deaths.
