Papua New Guinea has recorded 239 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths in the last 24 hours ending Wednesday 9 February 2022, bringing the total confirmed infections to 38,222 and 610 known deaths.
Of the new cases, the National Capital District recorded (190), Eastern Highlands (16), Western (11), Hela (10), West Sepik (eight), Central and Gulf (two each).
Three deaths were reported in Eastern Highlands and two in Northern.
In its latest update, the National Control Centre further confirmed 36,311 recovered cases, while the Delta cases remain at 708 including one case of Omicron.
There have been a total of 303,400 persons tested for COVID-19 to date.
NCC has also provided the following daily summary of COVID-19 statistics for the 22 Provinces:
– NCD – 10680 cases, 9686 recoveries, 102 deaths, 200 delta cases

NCC has also released a summary of the COVID-19 vaccination coverage as of 8 February, which indicated that 403, 159 vaccine doses were administered, of which 299,125 persons received at least one dose, while 238,325 people were fully vaccinated. The number of doses administered from three approved vaccines in country include AstraZeneca (242,618), Johnson & Johnson (140,500) and Sinopharm (20,041).
