PNG reports 117 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths

Papua New Guinea reported 117 new cases of Coronavirus and four virus-  related  deaths on  Wednesday 1 December 2021, bringing the total confirmed cases to 35, 354 and  total deaths to 550.

Of the new cases, Gulf reported the highest  with 70 cases,  East New Britain 24; Autonomous Region of Bougainville 10, National Capital  District eight,  Central and Jiwaka two each, and East Sepik, one .

There were no new  reported cases  in the other 15 provinces.

 Meanwhile,  four new deaths were reported in East New Britain, while the delta cases remain at 298.

The  National Control Centre’s latest COVID-19 updates has further reported 34,243 recoveries, including  a total of 251,601 tests conducted to date.

The cumulative figures  for the 22 provinces are:

  • NCD – 9215 cases, 9012 recoveries, 102 deaths, 112 delta cases;
  • Western – 3610 cases, 3573 recoveries, 33 deaths, 32 delta cases;
  • Western Highlands – 2708 cases, 2602 recoveries, 79 deaths, two delta cases;
  • Morobe – 2485 cases, 2456 recoveries, 27 deaths, 59 delta cases;
  • Eastern Highlands – 2137 cases, 2044 recoveries, 90 deaths, eight delta cases;
  • East New Britain – 2123 cases, 1958 recoveries, 26 deaths, one delta case;
  • Madang – 1262 cases, 1218 recoveries, 29 deaths, four delta cases;
  • West New Britain – 1203 cases, 1197 recoveries, six deaths;
  • Milne Bay – 1132 cases, 1103 recoveries, five deaths;
  • Chimbu – 1058 cases, 1047 recoveries, 11 deaths, one delta case;
  • Enga – 1039 cases, 1029 recoveries, six deaths, three delta cases;
  • Southern Highlands – 1024 cases, 939 recoveries, 53 deaths;
  • Central – 810 cases, 777 recoveries, two deaths, four delta cases;
  • Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 792 cases, 706 recoveries, eight deaths;
  • West Sepik – 762 cases, 746 recoveries, 13 deaths, 56 delta cases;
  • Hela – 742 cases, 710 recoveries, six deaths, 13 delta cases;
  • New Ireland – 726 cases, 714 recoveries, nine deaths, one delta case;
  • East Sepik – 667 cases, 655 recoveries, eight deaths;
  • Manus – 618 cases, 610 recoveries, eight deaths, two delta cases;
  • Jiwaka – 421 cases, 379 recoveries, 29 deaths;
  • Gulf – 458 cases, 406 recoveries;
  • Northern – 362 cases, 362 recoveries.

In the meantime, a total of 367,963 vaccine doses have been administered in the country with 277,678 persons have at least received their first dose, whilst 209,126 people have been fully vaccinated.
