PNG registers eight new cases of Coronavirus

Papua New Guinea reported eight new cases of Coronavirus on Monday 10 January 2022,  increasing  the total infections to  36,415.

Seven of the new cases were recorded in Manus and one in the National Capital District.

The latest COVID-19 update from the   National Control Centre has also  confirmed    that a total of 35,755  people  have recovered from the virus,.

Three new deaths were reported in the same period, raising the death toll to 595, while Delta  variant cases  have also  increased to 706.

NCC has also  released  a  daily   summary of   the COVID-19  statistics  for  the 22 provinces, as shown:

–  NCD – 9405 cases, 9284 recoveries, 102 deaths, 200 delta cases

– Western  – 3610 cases, 3577 recoveries, 33 deaths,43 delta cases;

– Western Highlands  – 2725 cases, 2645 recoveries, 79 deaths, four delta cases;

– Morobe  – 2491 cases,2444 recoveries, 48 deaths, 84 delta cases;

– East New Britain – 2215 cases, 2172 recoveries, 31 deaths, 28 delta cases;

– Eastern Highlands – 2156 cases, 2066 recoveries, 90 deaths, 22 delta cases;

– Madang – 1268 cases, 1239 recoveries, 29 deaths, four delta cases;

– West New Britain  – 1238 cases, 1232 recoveries, six deaths, 44 delta cases;

– Milne Bay – 1214 cases, 1208 recoveries, five deaths, three delta cases;

– Chimbu – 1058 cases, 1047 recoveries, 11 deaths, 14 delta cases;

– Enga – 1049 cases, 1041 recoveries, seven deaths, four delta cases;

– Southern Highlands – 1039 cases, 986 recoveries, 53 deaths, 43 delta cases;

–  Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 931 cases, 905 recoveries, 17 deaths,15  delta cases;

– New Ireland  – 848 cases, 835 recoveries, 11 deaths, 33 delta cases;

–  Central  – 833 cases, 824 recoveries, two deaths, 10 delta cases;

– West Sepik  – 775 cases, 762 recoveries, 13 deaths, 70 delta cases;

– Hela –  768 cases, 761 recoveries, six deaths, 35 delta cases;

– East Sepik  – 701 cases, 693 recoveries, eight deaths, 27 delta cases;

– Manus –  646 cases, 631 recoveries, 11 deaths, 11 delta cases;

– Northern  – 528 cases, 520  recoveries, four  deaths.

– Gulf – 496 cases, 492 recoveries, 10 delta cases;

– Jiwaka  – 421 cases, 392 recoveries, 29 deaths, two delta cases;

A total of 281,022 tests have  been conducted  in the same period.

In the meantime, NCC has reported that a total of  385,616 vaccine doses were  administered as  at 9 January,  2022, of which 289,244 people received at least  one dose  where as 227,213 persons were double dosed.
