Papua New Guinea has recorded 155 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Thursday April 15, increasing the total number of cases to 9,343.
Controller of the National Pandemic Response, David Manning, said the cases were reported in 14 provinces, which included, National Capital District with 107 positive cases; Central (6); Gulf (3); Western province (6); Morobe (3); Madang (4); Eastern Highlands (4); Simbu (3); Jiwaka (3); Western Highlands (1); Enga (2); West New Britain (9); New Ireland (1) and Autonomous Region of Bougainville (3). while the COVID-19 related deaths remain at 82.
The cumulative figures of Covid-19 cases as of Thursday 15 April are as follows: NCD, 3873 (56 deaths); Central, 137; Gulf, 16; Western province, 2290 (2 deaths); Milne Bay, 52; Northern (Oro), 3; Morobe, 410 (3 deaths); Madang, 98; East Sepik, 85; West Sepik, 356 (3 deaths); Eastern Highlands, 453 (6 deaths); Simbu, 111; Jiwaka, 69 (4 deaths); Western Highlands, 313 (2 deaths); Southern Highlands, 22; Enga, 88 (1 death); Hela, 31; Manus, 15; East New Britain, 366; West New Britain, 263, (3 deaths); New Ireland, 90 (2 deaths) and Autonomous Region of Bougainville, 152.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 is 136,996,364 including 679,003 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll is 2,951,832 of which 10,367 were reported in the last 24 hours.
The 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases, as shown in the graph below:
