Papua New Guinea has recorded 130 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, ending 12 midday on Thursday May 20, increasing the total number of cases to 15,042.
The cases were reported in 13 provinces in which New Ireland reported the highest with 27 cases. Southern Highlands reported 18 cases, Western Highlands , 16; the Autonomous Region of Bougainville 16; Manus 15, National Capital District 11, East New Britain 10, Morobe eight, Madang four cases, Eastern Highlands two; Enga, 1; Jiwaka 1; and Hela 1.
Controller of the National Pandemic Response, David Manning, said of the 130 cases recorded, 70 were males and 60 were females.
Their ages range between six to 73 years. At the time of testing, 89 cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stand at 15,042 with 154 known deaths.
Mr Manning also confirmed that a total of 13,826 people have recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, the 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.

Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 163,869,893 including 546,512 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll is at 3,398,302 including 11,335 new deaths in the last 24 hours.
