Northern Province recorded the highest number of 80 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending Wednesday 5 January 2022, followed by Gulf (four), National Capital District (three) and Enga and East Sepik (one case each).
This brings the total number of new cases to 89 and the country’s overall confirmed cases since the outbreak, to 36,285
The National Control Centre’s latest Covid-19 update further confirmed a total of 35,639 people have recovered from the virus, including one new death, raising the death toll to 591 while the Delta cases stand at 658.
In the meantime, a summary of the COVID-19 statistics in the 22 provinces is also highlighted below:
