No new COVID-19 cases reported

The National Control Centre has reported no new cases of Coronavirus  on Sunday 16 and Monday 17 January 2022.

The cumulative total confirmed cases still remain at 36,446 while the recovered cases stand at 35,800.

In its daily COVID-19 update, NCC has also confirmed  one case of Omicron variant registered in the Eastern Highands.

In the meantime,  the number of tests conducted on 17 January has reached 285,637, while the total  number of vaccine doses administered in the same period, have increased to 389,744.

There were  290,946 persons  with  at least  one dose received, including  229,459  people  being fully vaccinated.

A Summary of the COVID-19 statistics for    the 22 provinces  is as follows:

–  NCD – 9417 cases, 9298 recoveries, 102 deaths, 200 delta cases

– Western  – 3610 cases, 3577 recoveries, 33 deaths,43 delta cases;

– Western Highlands  – 2725 cases, 2646 recoveries, 79 deaths, four delta cases;

– Morobe  – 2492 cases,2444 recoveries, 49 deaths, 84 delta cases;

– East New Britain – 2224 cases, 2181 recoveries, 31 deaths, 28 delta cases;

– Eastern Highlands – 2157 cases, 2067 recoveries, 90 deaths, 22 delta cases, one   Omicron case;

– Madang – 1268 cases, 1239 recoveries, 29 deaths, four delta cases;

– West New Britain  – 1238 cases, 1232 recoveries, six deaths, 44 delta cases;

– Milne Bay – 1214 cases, 1208 recoveries, five deaths, three delta cases;

– Chimbu – 1058 cases, 1047 recoveries, 11 deaths, 14 delta cases;

– Enga – 1050 cases, 1041 recoveries, seven deaths, four delta cases;

– Southern Highlands – 1041 cases, 986 recoveries, 53 deaths, 43 delta cases;

–  Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 931 cases, 913 recoveries, 17 deaths,15  delta cases;

– New Ireland  – 854 cases, 839 recoveries, 11 deaths, 33 delta cases;

–  Central  – 833 cases, 826 recoveries, two deaths, 10 delta cases;
