There were no new positive COVID-19 cases reported in Papua New Guinea in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Monday August 16, 2021.
Police Commissioner and Controller of the National Pandemic Response, David Manning, however, said PNG’s total cases still remained at 17,832.
From statistics released, a total of 150,870 COVID-19 tests have been conducted , which is an increase of 293 from Sunday.
Mr Manning further confirmed that there were five new recoveries recorded today, increasing the total number of people who have recovered form the virus, to 17,547.
In the meantime, the number of active cases reported within the last 21-day period has decreased by five, to 93 from 98 recorded on Sunday 14 August.
A total of 413 samples are pending laboratory results.
As of August 11, a total of 94,419 people have been vaccinated, which includes 9,466 health workers, 55,340 essential workers and 29,613 people with comorbidities.
Globally to date a total of 208,058,257 people have contracted the COVID-19 virus. This includes 4,374,757 known COVID-19 deaths worldwide.
