New locally transmitted Covid-19 cases detected

The National Control Centre has  reported 314 new locally transmitted Covid-19  cases in the last 24 hours ending Monday, 25 October 2021, raising the  number of cases in the country  to 28,209.

The new cases were detected in East Sepik (20); Madang (14); Morobe (101); Gulf (14); Central (14); National Capital District (38);  Milne Bay (151); Eastern Highlands (22); Western Highlands (2) and East New Britain (17).

The number of people who have recovered from Covid-19  is 24,502 , whilst  the death toll  has increased  to  335.

In the same reporting period, the cumulative  Delta cases  have reached 192.

In the meantime, the cumulative statistics  for  Covid-9 cases, deaths , recoveries and delta cases in the 22 provinces  are as follows:

  •  National Capital District, 7713 cases, 6602 recovered cases , 101 deaths, 73  Delta cases;
  • Western , 3566 cases, 3514 recoveries, 30 deaths, 31 delta cases;
  • Western Highlands, 2363 cases, 1962 recoveries, 40 deaths
  • Morobe, 1949 cases, 1674 recoveries, 14 deaths, 19 delta cases;
  • Eastern Highlands, 1680, 1557 recoveries, 49 deaths, 1 delta case;
  • East New Britain, 1479 cases, 1350 recoveries, 12 deaths,
  • West New Britain, 1141 cases, 1135 recoveries, 6 deaths;
  • Enga, 954 cases, 883 recovered cases, 3 deaths
  • Madang, 741 cases, 629 recoveries, 7 deaths, 2  delta cases;
  • Milne Bay, 732 cases, 431 recoveries, 5 deaths;
  • West Sepik, 711 cases, 688 recoveries, 12 deaths, 56 delta cases;
  • New Ireland, 600 cases, 597 recovered people, 4 deaths;
  • Chimbu, 567 cases, 499 recoveries, 9 deaths, 1 delta case;
  • Southern Highlands, 538 cases, 453 recovered, 3 deaths
  • Central, 535 cases, 430 recovered, 2 deaths, 3 delta cases;
  • Manus, 534 cases, 530 recovered, 3 deaths, 1 delta case;
  • Autonomous Region of Bougainville, 467 cases, 452 recovered, 2 deaths;
  • Hela, 421 cases, 384 recovered,  2 deaths, 1 delta case;
  • East Sepik, 371 cases, 330 recovered, 7 deaths,
  • Jiwaka, 341 cases, 264 recovered, 23 deaths;
  • Northern, 198  cases, 197 recovered cases;
  • Gulf, 185 cases, 163 recovered, 3 delta cases.

Statistics  have also shown that   risk provinces  are, the  Autonomous Region of Bougainville, New Ireland, and Gulf, whilst  high risk zones  are Hela, Jiwaka, Southern Highlands, Eastern Highlands, Chimbu, Madang, Morobe, Central, Northern,  Milne Bay, including the  National Capital District.

Medium risk provinces are West Sepik, East Sepik, Manus, East New Britain and West New Britain.
