Two additional coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s total confirmed cases to 580.
One case is a 28-year-old female from Wabag District of Enga. She is a contact of the first case and the province’s second reported case in a span of two days.
The rapid response team is currently conducting investigation and contact tracing.
Controller of the National Pandemic Response, David Manning said the other case is a 35-year-old female who resides in Waigani, National Capital District.
She had fever, cough, shortness of breath and had been vomiting at the time of testing.
To date, 26,690 people in PNG have been tested for coronavirus. Additional 302 samples are pending laboratory results.
There are 537 people who have recovered from COVID-19 while there are 36 active cases that are being isolated. The country’s death toll from COVID-19 remains at seven.

Globally, since the start of the outbreak, there are 39,175,466 confirmed cases and the death toll stands at 1,102,941.
There was an increase of 399,093 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.
In the Western Pacific region, a total of 13 countries/territories had confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases for the region to 671,492 cases and 14,579 deaths.
