NDOH releases updates on COVID-19 vaccinations

The Department of Health and its partners have reported that  the total  number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered   in Papua New Guinea  reached 191,925, as of  Wednesday  29 September  2021.

From that figure, the number of persons  who received   at least one dose, is 133,741 whilst the total number of  those who  are fully vaccinated, stands at  61,221.

The government has targeted four main groups in the current vaccine roll out programme.

These include health workers, persons at  45 years old and above and persons with comorbidity

The current report reveals, there are 10,569 health workers and support staff  that  have received their first doses  while  4,085 persons  have been   fully vaccinated.

The 45 years and above category had 21,157 persons fully vaccinated whilst 42,507  got their  first  doses.

Persons with comorbidity  ( those  who have  of two or more diseases present, or medical conditions)  had 3113 receiving their first doses with 814 being fully vaccinated.

The Government is  again  urging Papua New Guineans to get vaccinated to minimise hospitalization and  to  prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as the Delta variant.
