A 27-year-old male is the latest person to be tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the National Capital District (NCD) in the last 24 hours, increasing PNG’s total COVID-19 cases to 541.
The case was admitted to the Port Moresby General Hospital on 29 September for chronic kidney disease. Despite showing no symptoms, he tested positive for COVID-19.
The total confirmed cases for NCD has increased to 323, of which, most have been spread through community transmission.
PNG’s total confirmed cases is now 541 while the death toll remains at seven.

Globally, since the start of the outbreak, there have been a total 34,804,348 confirmed cases and the death toll stands at 1,030,783.
There was an increase of 304,443 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.
In the Western Pacific region, a total of 12 countries/territories had confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases for the region to 625,642 cases.
