NCD reports new COVID-19 case today: bringing PNG’s total to 605

The National Capital District (NCD) has reported one new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s total cases to 605.

The latest case is a 57-year-old man residing in Vadavada in the Moresby Northeast electorate.  He has fever, cough and shortness of breath.

Controller of the National Pandemic Response, David Manning said, the case was tested at the Port Moresby General Hospital using GeneXpert machine.

To date, 16 provinces have reported COVID-19 cases. Out of 605 cases in the country, 588 have recovered, while there are 10 active cases.

There have been seven known deaths from COVID-19.

Globally, the total confirmed cases  of COVID-19 has reached 55,928,327, of which 594,542 were reported in the last 24 hours.

The death toll is 1,344,003, of which 9,989 were reported in the last 24 hours.
