NCD records another COVID-19 case on Friday October 30 : PNG’s total at 590

The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the National Capital District (NCD) now stands at 343 following the confirmation of another case on Friday October 30, increasing PNG’s total to 590.

A 30-year-old male who lives in Korobosea in the Moresby North East electorate is the latest confirmed case.

He was experiencing fever at the time of testing at the Rita Flynn. He was later confirmed to be positive upon return of his swab samples.

He is currently isolated at the Rita Flynn Facility and the NCD rapid response team has commenced contact tracing.

The country’s COVID-19  infections have now reached 590, with seven deaths.

To date, there are 29,254 people who have been tested for coronavirus. Additional 48 samples are pending laboratory results.

There have been 575 people who have recovered from COVID-19 whilst there are eight active cases that are being isolated.

Meanwhile, fourteen provinces (including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville) have confirmed COVID-19 cases:

Globally, since the start of the outbreak, there have been a total 45,294,739 confirmed cases and the death toll stands at 1,185,535.

There was an increase of 527,276 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.

In the Western Pacific Region, a total of 14 countries/territories had confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases for the region to 726,915 cases and 15,450 deaths.
