The National Control Centre has registered three new cases of Coronavirus in the last 24 hours ending Tuesday 4 January 2022, raising the total infections in country to 36,196.
In its latest COVID-19 update, NCC confirmed two new cases in East New Britain and one in Central province.
As of January 4, a total of 35,549 persons have recovered from the virus, the number of deaths remains 590, while Delta cases have increased to 658.
In the same period, a total of 275,111 COVID-19 tests were conducted.
The report has also summarized the COVID-19 statistics throughout the country, as shown below:
– NCD – 9393 cases, 9273 recoveries, 102 deaths, 199 delta cases
– Western – 3610 cases, 3577 recoveries, 33 deaths,43 delta cases;

NCC has also released updates on the vaccine coverage in country, of which 384,043 doses have so far been administered.
Of that, a total of 286,837 persons have at least received first dose, while 224,073 people were fully vaccinated.
