More than 30,000 persons recovered from Covid-19

A total  of 34,484 persons in Papua New Guinea have recovered  from  the  Coronavirus disease, while confirmed cases have increased to 35,029.

In its   latest CovID-19  update ending Saturday 27 November 2021, the National Control Centre  further confirmed 83 new  cases in  nine provinces, including two newly reported deaths.

Milne Bay recorded the highest number of   29 Covid cases,  followed by  West New  Britain (20), Autonomous Region of Bougainville (10),  Enga (seven),Jiwaka (six), East New Britain ( five), Southern Highlands (four) Morobe and National Capital District,  reported one case each.

Two Covid -19 deaths were reported in East New Britain in the same reporting  period, raising the death toll to 545.

Classification of   provincial  Covid cases are as follows:

  • NCD – 9192 cases,8945 recoveries, 102 deaths, 112 delta cases;
  • Western – 3600 cases, 3571 recoveries, 33 deaths, 32 delta cases;
  • Western Highlands – 2707 cases, 2589 recoveries, 79 deaths, two delta cases;
  • Morobe – 2484 cases, 2455 recoveries, 27 deaths, 59 delta cases;
  • Eastern Highlands – 2137 cases, 2036 recoveries, 90 deaths, eight delta cases;
  • East New Britain – 2099 cases, 1905 recoveries, 22 deaths, one delta case;
  • Madang – 1260 cases, 1214 recoveries, 29 deaths, four delta cases;
  • West New Britain – 1203 cases, 1197 recoveries, six deaths;
  • Milne Bay – 1131 cases, 1087 recoveries, five deaths;
  • Chimbu – 1058 cases, 1047 recoveries, 11 deaths, one delta case;
  • Enga – 1037 cases, 1026 recoveries, six deaths, three delta cases;
  • Southern Highlands – 1013 cases, 923 recoveries, 53 deaths;
  • West Sepik – 762 cases, 746 recoveries, 13 deaths, 56 delta cases;
  • Central – 751 cases, 722 recoveries, two deaths, four delta cases;
  • Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 750 cases, 678 recoveries, seven deaths;
  • Hela – 740 cases, 698 recoveries, six deaths, 13 delta cases;
  • New Ireland – 726 cases, 715 recoveries, nine deaths, one delta case;
  • East Sepik – 666 cases, 652 recoveries, eight deaths;
  • Manus – 618 cases, 594 recoveries, seven deaths, two delta cases;
  • Jiwaka – 416 cases, 373 recoveries, 29 deaths;
  • Northern – 362 cases, 348 recoveries;
  • Gulf – 317 cases, 309 recoveries.

The  number of Delta variant cases  remains at 298.
