Marape congratulates Queen Elizabeth II on her 94th Birthday

The Prime Minister Hon. James Marape,  has congratulated the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II on her 94th birthday this year, 2020.

Prime Minister Marape said Her Majesty The Queen  has been a symbol of the democratic and West Minister System of Government  Papua New Guinea enjoys, which it attained since independence in 1975.

“The Marape-Steven Government and people of PNG wish Her Majesty many more blessings to the Royal family in the years to come.

“Papua New Guinea is a member of the Commonwealth Group of Nations in which the Queen is the Head of State,” he said.

Prime Minister Marape said the relationship between PNG and the United Kingdom  has been strengthening over the years.

He said the Queen, as Head of State, continues to play her role through her Representative the Governor General of PNG.

Prime Minister Marape said on the economic front many British companies operate in and contribute to the development of PNG.

Queen Elizabeth II was born on April 21, 1926, in London and turned 94 years old this year 2020; however, it is officially celebrated by all Commonwealth nations on the second Saturday of June annually.

Papua New Guinea will  have a public holiday on  Monday, June 8 to commemorate The Queen’s  Birthday.
