Five new COVID-19 cases reported

Five new cases of COVID-19  were reported in the last 24 hours, ending Tuesday 19 April 2022, bringing the   total  infections  in Papua New Guinea to 43,669.    

Of the new cases, three were recorded in Southern Highlands, and two  in the National Capital District.

In its latest COVID-19 updates, the    National Control Centre, has further confirmed   42, 973    people have  recovered  from the virus,  while the death toll   remains at  649.

 According to the statistics, the     Delta variant cases still  stand at  741 while   the   Omicron  variant cases  remain at  375.

In the meantime, the  following cumulative   Covid-19  statistics for the 22 provinces do  not include the delta and omicron variant cases:

– NCD –  11746 cases, 11631  recoveries, 102 deaths;

– Western  – 3745 cases, 3712 recoveries, 33 deaths;

– Western Highlands  – 3134 cases, 3051 recoveries, 79 deaths;

– Eastern Highlands – 2712  cases, 2584 recoveries, 120 deaths;

– Morobe  – 2604  cases,2553 recoveries, 51 deaths;

– East New Britain – 2356 cases, 2324 recoveries, 31 deaths;

– Madang – 1787 cases, 1754  recoveries, 31 deaths;

–  Milne Bay – 1574 cases, 1565 recoveries, five deaths;

– Southern Highlands – 1294  cases, 1236 recoveries, 53 deaths;

– Central  – 1268 cases, 1264  recoveries, two deaths;

– West New Britain  – 1244 cases, 1238 recoveries, six deaths;

– Enga – 1221 cases, 1208 recoveries, seven deaths;

–  Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 1201 cases, 1182 recoveries, 19 deaths;

– New Ireland  – 1184 cases, 1169 recoveries, 13 deaths;

– Chimbu – 1170 cases, 1155 recoveries, 15 deaths;

– Hela –  1067 cases,  1053 recoveries, 14  deaths;

– Manus –  898 cases, 887  recoveries, 11 deaths;

– West Sepik  – 881  cases, 868 recoveries, 13 deaths;

– East Sepik  – 758 cases, 750 recoveries, eight deaths;

– Northern  – 657  cases, 651  recoveries, six deaths;

– Gulf – 645 cases, 645 recoveries;

– Jiwaka  – 523 cases, 493 recoveries, 30 deaths.

Meanwhile, the latest Covid -19 vaccination coverage as of Sunday 10 April, has reported 440,015 vaccine doses being  administered, with 322,687 persons receiving at least one dose, while 263,313 people  have been fully vaccinated.

The  data collected  does not include booster  vaccinations.
