A 28-year-old woman from Eastern Highlands Province (EHP) is the latest coronavirus disease (COVID-19) case recorded in the country in the last 24 hours.
This brings the total number of laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases in EHP to 13 and 589 for Papua New Guinea.
The latest case resides in Seigu, Goroka Town, and did not have symptoms of the virus at the time of testing. She, however, came into contact with a previously-identified case.
Controller of the National Pandemic, David Manning, said to date, 29,254 people had been tested for coronavirus, with additional 308 samples pending laboratory results.
There have been 575 people who have recovered from COVID-19 whilst there are seven active cases that are being isolated. PNG has reported seven deaths from COVID-19.

Globally, since the start of the outbreak, there have been a total 44,219,779 confirmed cases and the death toll stands at 1,171,093.
There was an increase of 443,886 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.
In the Western Pacific Region, a total of 14 countries/territories had confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases for the region to 718,791 cases and 15,332 deaths.
