COVID updates: PNG records 133 new cases of coronavirus

Papua New Guinea recorded 133 new cases of coronavirus  in the last 24 hours, ending  Monday 22 November 2021, increasing  total infections to 34,605.

The death toll remains at 529 in the last 24 hours, while  the number of recovered  people    has reached 32,938.

The National Control Centre, in its  latest COVID-19 updates  has confirmed that   the new cases were reported in  Milne Bay (111), National Capital District (14), Central, Hela, East New Britain (two cases each), Eastern Highlands and Madang (one each).

In the meantime, the total  Covid tests conducted  so far  have  increased to 243, 396.

Statistics for  the 22 provinces  have been classified as follows:

  • NCD – 9140 cases, 8956 recoveries, 102 deaths, 112 delta cases;
  • Western – 3606 cases, 3571 recoveries, 33 deaths, 32 delta cases;
  • Western  Highlands – 2691 cases, 2553 recoveries, 79 deaths, two delta cases;
  • Morobe – 2483 cases, 2456 (2441) recoveries, 27 deaths, 59 delta cases;
  • Eastern Highlands – 2137 cases, 2036 recoveries, 90 deaths, eight delta cases;
  •  East New Britain – 2005 cases, 20 deaths,1751 recoveries, one delta case;
  • Madang – 1250  cases,  1177 recoveries, 29 deaths, four delta cases;
  • West New Britain – 1180 cases, 1174 recoveries, six deaths;
  • Milne Bay – 1102 cases,  1044 recoveries, five deaths;
  • Enga – 1030 cases, 1014 recoveries, six deaths, three delta cases;
  • Chimbu – 1000 cases, 970 recoveries, 11 deaths, one delta case;
  • Southern Highlands -984 cases, 855 recoveries, 44 deaths;
  • West Sepik – 759 cases, 741 recoveries, 13 deaths, 56 delta cases;
  • Central – 743 cases, 705 recoveries, two deaths, four delta cases;
  • Hela – 728 cases,  687  recoveries, two deaths, 13 delta cases;
  • New Ireland – 723 cases, 688  recoveries, nine deaths, one delta case;
  • Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 698 cases, 605 recoveries, seven deaths;
  • East Sepik – 664 cases, 635 recoveries, eight deaths;
  • Manus – 591 cases, 577 recoveries, seven deaths, two delta cases;
  • Jiwaka – 406 cases, 365  recoveries, 29 deaths;
  • Northern – 362 cases, 348 recoveries;
  • Gulf – 309 cases,  299  recoveries.

The total number  of Delta cases  is 298.
