Contact tracing continues in parts of PNG

Controller of the National Pandemic Response, David Manning, says there was no  COVID-19 case  reported in the country today.

But  he added that  despite nil report coming through, the rapid response teams are conducting contact tracing in provinces where positive cases have been reported lately.

The National Capital District continues to record the highest positive cases of which most are transmitted through community transmission.

Western Province holds the second highest number of positive cases followed by West New Britain.

The country’s COVID-19 cases stand at 797 and 9 deaths.

A total of 39,761 people have been tested for Coronavirus. 752 people have recovered whilst 281 samples are pending at the laboratories. Thirty-six active cases are in isolation.

Sixteen provinces including the Autonomous Region Of Bougainville have reported cases. The distribution of the cases is as follows:

Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 81,947,503 and the death toll at 1,808,401.
