41 new cases of Coronavirus registered in two provinces

Forty- one new cases of Coronavirus were registered in two provinces  on Thursday 6 January 2022, raising the total infections in the country to 36,326.

Forty of the  new cases were detected in  Northern Province  while  the  National Capital District reported one case.

 The   National Control Centre’s latest Covid-19 update  further   confirmed a total of 35,687 persons have recovered from the virus.

There have been no  new deaths  and  no new Delta cases recorded in the same period.

NCC has also highlighted a  daily   summary of   the COVID-19  statistics in the 22 provinces, as shown below:

–  NCD – 9397 cases, 9278 recoveries, 102 deaths, 199 delta cases

– Western  – 3610 cases, 3577 recoveries, 33 deaths,43 delta cases;

– Western Highlands  – 2725 cases, 2645 recoveries, 79 deaths, four delta cases;

– Morobe  – 2491 cases,2444 recoveries, 47 deaths, 84 delta cases;

– East New Britain – 2212 cases, 2169 recoveries, 28 deaths, 28 delta cases;

– Eastern Highlands – 2156 cases, 2066 recoveries, 90 deaths, 22 delta cases;

– Madang – 1268 cases, 1239 recoveries, 29 deaths, four delta cases;

– West New Britain  – 1227 cases, 1221 recoveries, six deaths, 33 delta cases;

– Milne Bay – 1213 cases, 1208 recoveries, five deaths, three delta cases;

– Chimbu – 1058 cases, 1047 recoveries, 11 deaths, 14 delta cases;

– Enga – 1049 cases, 1041 recoveries, seven deaths, four delta cases;

– Southern Highlands – 1039 cases, 986 recoveries, 53 deaths, 43 delta cases;

–  Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 921 cases, 904 recoveries, 17 deaths,15  delta cases;

–  Central  – 829 cases, 824 recoveries, two deaths, 10 delta cases;

– New Ireland  – 825 cases, 809 recoveries, 11 deaths, 11 delta cases;

– West Sepik  – 775 cases, 762 recoveries, 13 deaths, 70 delta cases;

– Hela –  762 cases, 755 recoveries, six deaths, 32 delta cases;

– East Sepik  – 689 cases, 681 recoveries, eight deaths, 16 delta cases;

– Manus –  639 cases, 628 recoveries, 11 deaths, 11 delta cases;

– Northern  – 524 cases, 520  recoveries, four  deaths.

– Gulf – 496 cases, 491 recoveries, 10 delta cases;

– Jiwaka  – 421 cases, 392 recoveries, 29 deaths, two delta cases;

NCC has also recorded  a total  number of 280,601 tests conducted to date.

Meanwhile, , a total of  385,616 vaccine doses have been administered as of Wednesday 5 January 2022, of which 287,884 persons have at least received one does, while 225,592 have  been  fully vaccinated.
