139 new cases of Coronavirus recorded in PNG

The  Covid-19 updates  from the National Control Centre has  confirmed 139  new cases in the last 24 hours, ending  Wednesday, 24 November 2021, increasing the total cases to 34,846.

The new cases were recorded in nine provinces, with  Chimbu, reporting the highest with (58),  East New Britain (33), Autonomous Region of Bougainville (17),  National Capital District (nine), Southern Highlands (eight), Hela (six), Madang, Western Highlands ( three each), and Central (two).

In the same period, 33,356  persons have recovered from the virus, whilst the death toll remains at 542.

There have been 298 Delta variant cases  reported to date.

As reported, the  provincial cumulative statistics are as shown:

  • NCD – 9171 cases, 8846 recoveries, 102 deaths, 112 delta cases;
  • Western – 3607 cases, 3563 recoveries, 33 deaths, 32 delta cases;
  • Western Highlands – 2704 cases, 2571 recoveries, 79 deaths, two delta cases;
  • Morobe – 2483 cases, 2443 recoveries, 27 deaths, 59 delta cases;
  • Eastern Highlands – 2137 cases, 2018 recoveries, 90 deaths, eight delta cases;
  • East New Britain – 2059 cases, 1825 recoveries, 20 deaths, one delta case;
  • Madang – 1256 cases, 1208 recoveries, 29 deaths, four delta cases;
  • West New Britain – 1183 cases, 1177 recoveries, six deaths;
  • Milne Bay – 1102 recoveries, 1072 recoveries, five deaths;
  • Chimbu – 1058 cases, 1024 recoveries, 11 deaths, one delta case;
  • Enga – 1030 cases, 1017 recoveries, six deaths, three delta cases;
  • Southern Highlands – 1008 cases, 903 recoveries, 53 deaths;
  • West Sepik – 762 cases, 744 recoveries, 13 deaths, 56 delta cases,
  • Central – 747 cases, 708 recoveries, two deaths, four delta cases;
  • Hela – 737 cases, 690 recoveries, six deaths, 13 delta cases;
  • New Ireland – 723 cases, 698 recoveries, nine deaths, one delta case;
  • Autonomous Region of Bougainville – 715 cases, 634 recoveries, seven deaths;
  • East Sepik – 666 cases, 647 recoveries, eight deaths;
  • Manus – 618 cases, 581 recoveries, seven deaths, two delta cases;
  • Jiwaka – 409 cases, 366 recoveries, 29 deaths;
  • Northern – 362 cases, 318 recoveries;
  • Gulf – 309 cases, 303 recoveries.

As of 21 November, the total number of  doses administered  is  355,948,  while 269,366 persons received at least  one dose, with  197,800 people  being  fully vaccinated.
